"Drag Main" on foot, remember the past, meet old friends and make new ones. May - 1st Weekend - 9:am - 4:pm The Scots, Irish and Cherokee join together to celebrate their heritage - clan tents, living history, entertainment, concessions. New festival activities are added each year!. Small Admission Second Friday and Saturday - June - 11:00am each day till... Admission - $15/day or $25 for 2-day ticket - Children under 12 FREE . At the Poteet Farm 3 228 River Road NE , (Take Cleveland Highway (Hwy. 71) to Hwy. 2 and follow the signs) Days of Indian Heritage - Mid-July - Living history and hours at the Chief Vann House. ______________________________________________________________________________________________ Cherokee Days of Recognition - August - 1st weekend - Smalll Admission - Living history, dance, storytelling at the last Council Grounds for the Eastern Band of the Ch erokee Nation. Visit the Museum of Indian History, walk the "Blue Hole" Nature Trail and see the Eternal Flame. ______________________________________________________________________________ September - Weekend after Labor Day, 9:am - 4:pm Saturday and Sunday - Small Admission When the cannons roar and the sound of horses' hoofs thunder through the valley, you know the Battle of Tunnel Hill Reenactment is underway. Located at the site of one of the South's oldest railroad tunnel, the reenactment not only exhibits an exciting battle, but show cases life as it was during the era of the War Between the States. Visitors can walk through the campsites of both Confederate and Union soldiers, shop at the sutlers' tents and see the tunnel where The General once came through during the Great Locomotive Train Chase. September - 3rd weekend - 10:am - 5:pm Saturday and Sunday - Free Admission Celebrate fine arts with the Dalton community in downtown. Oil paintings, pottery, jewelry and other unusual art forms will delight your visit. Food, entertainment and children's activities only add to your enjoyment of the weekend. Dalton Train Festival - First Weekend in October 9:00am Saturday and Sunday - Downtown Dalton -Free Admission Model trains, live trains on the CSX and Norfolk-Southern railroad one block away, food, music and more! ___________________________________________________________________________________ October - Columbus Day Weekend 9:am - 6:pm Saturday & 9:am - 5:pm Sunday - Small Admission charged - children under 12 free with adult . Prater's Mill teems with life as crafters and entertainers gear up for this quality arts and Crafts show held in the atmosphere of an old-fashioned country fair. The mill, built by slave labor in 1855, actually grinds corn during the fair. Silver Bell Sprint - December - 1st Saturday Annual 5K/1 Mile in downtown Dalton to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters. Be one of the first 500 to register and receive a t-shirt, silver bell for your shoes and a stocking goodie bag! Food, awards and a lot of fun for the whole family..
