Carters Lake and  Recreation Area
“Located between Calhoun and Ellijay on the Coosawattee River, Carters Lake Ga Hwy 136,  is about a thirty minute drive from Chatsworth, GA. 

Carters Lake is popular for camping, fishing, picnicking, boating, mountain biking and hunting activities Carters Lake has 3200 surface acres. Carters Lake is more than 450 feet deep. Carters Dam is the tallest earthen dam east of Mississippi river. Carters Lake 62 miles of natural shoreline has no private docks or development. The lake is named after Farrish Carter who owned property nearby in the 1800's.”

John Davis Recreation Center/James Brown Park
Brown Park is a 36-acre complex featuring: a, football/soccer fields, picnic pavilions, public swimming pool, playground area, and outdoor basketball and soccer courts. Brown Park is the City’s oldest park dating back to 1956. The Parks and Recreation administrative offices are located at this site. If walking is your thing a trip around the park will take you .8 miles.

Historic Western & Atlantic Railroad Tunnel & Museum
Walk through 1,477 feet of railroad and Civil War history at the Western and Atlantic Tunnel, completed in 1850. It was the first major railroad tunnel in the South, the final link in the first railroad tunnel through the Appalachian Mountains, and witness to the 1862 Great Locomotive Chase.
